Vera & Jarno

A very fun couple to photograph, full of energy and ready to try anything! This is the essence to get great wedding photographs. Milda & Kim

The wedding of Milda and Kim was a humble occasion with around 20 guests. The ceremony was held at Mustion Kirkko, it's a beautiful wooden church with plenty of natural light streaming in, which is great for photography. As a part of their reception, a guided tour of the Musition Linna was included. It was a challenge for me because of the changing light conditions and constant movement. This was the first of two weddings I photographed over the weekend.

Wedding of Daniela & Mika

Congratulations to Daniela and Mika. It was a fantastic day in Hämeenlinna, full of energy and fun! It was great to have a little extra time to photograph them on the day. If you are wondering how long the average time for the portrait session of the couple is...its anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. The more time you have, the more locations and time I have to create the image, something to keep in mind when you are planning your program for your day!

A Growing Trend in Finland???

A Growing Trend in Finland
Beauty of pregnancy can be documented with the help of maternity portraits and these memories can be cherished for a long time to come. Many women are not comfortable exposing themselves especially at this time as they do not feel at their sexiest best. But ever since bold photographs of pregnant Demi Moore were shown on the front cover of Vanity Fair, it has inspired many women to document their pregnancies as well with confidence and grace. Pregnancy is associated with a special kind of fascination and women go through some remarkable changes. A good maternity photo shoot can beautifully capture these moments that will help women celebrate their pregnancy instead of shying away.

What to Expect
Most of the women are not sure of what to expect when going through a maternity photo shoot.  But most of them feel confident and beautiful during the photo shoot as they develop a good rapport with the photographer and are put at ease by them. Maternity photo shoots can be fun and make your feel confident and comfortable in your new body. There are numerous maternity photo shoot ideas such as nude, semi nude, with partner, with your other kids, indoors, outdoors, color scheme, paper, ink etc.

What to Wear
With changes in the body, women are usually not sure what to wear to get that perfect look and feel. The key is to keep it simple and subtle so that your are able to give the best pose.

What is the best time
At around 35 to 37 weeks when the belly is at its fullest.

Hand Made Wedding Albums

Since I have been photographing weddings in Finland, I have found that I have been educating wedding couples about the difference of wedding albums. The albums that I supply my clients are not something you can walk into a shop and buy. My albums are custom designed to each client specific needs and are hand-made with the finest quality leathers, pages and prints. Once you have seen a hand made album, you will certainly recognize the difference in design and craftsmanship and the importance of the investment. As each album is custom made, clients have the choice of many different styles of covers and page types.

Just as important than the quality of the album, is the quality of the prints. All too frequently I see people going to 'Anttila' or similar stores to get their prints, yes they are cheap, although they simply can not deliver the quality that a professional print lab can produce. Invest in quality and you will be happy you did!

Watch this video to see how it is done by the professionals.

Are wedding albums becoming more popular in Finland? Or are we stuck in the digital age of looking at out images on screen, rather than print? What are you thoughts....

Vincent's 1st Birthday!

There is never a dull moment when trying to photograph a 'little person' (children). Smiles and laughter come and go...just like crying and tears...Vincent performed extremely well for his first professional photo shoot, with laughter, smiles and I think the most hardest to perform on Que...tears...great job all round ;)

Photography Workshops in Helsinki

I have been thinking about arranging photography workshops in Helsinki for a little while now, from my own observations (talking to a lot of people), informal photography workshops don't exist in Finland, especially in English (maybe someone can tell me otherwise).

Having over 10 years of experience in the education field, I felt that it would be a natural step for me to develope photography workshops in Helsinki. I love photography and what it has to offer, it has given me so much and  I believe now its time to give back!

I often see people with SLR camera's with the settings fixed to 'Auto'. Buying an expensive camera and keeping the settings to 'Auto' will not necessarily enable you to be creative,  knowledge of your camera and lighting will!

Workshops will commence in September. You can keep up to date and find out more details by joining my facebook fan page.

Details of Photography Workshops coming soon...

The Wedding of Minna & Janne

These guys absolutely rock! Hoping to surprise them on their honeymoon with these pictures! The main church in Naantali was a beautiful setting for the ceremony and Kaivohuone for the reception. This was an amazing wedding, it was full of laughter, tears, hugs and great party time. Janne and Minna are such a social couple and really relaxed and enjoyed their day.  Thank you to you and your guests for such a great day! I have always believed that the more relaxed the wedding couple is, the more relaxed the guests are...this wedding certainly proved that!
This has to be my most favorite image, it has so much emotion in it.
